Most of the AI industry is priced, hosted and documented somewhere else. Building from here means a few decisions land differently: what a workload costs once it is converted into rand, which providers are realistic to build on, where processing happens, and what that means for the information you send.
None of that makes AI harder to use from South Africa. It does mean the provider and architecture choices are worth making deliberately rather than defaulting to the best-known name. We have written up the parts that come up most often.
